Microsoft just released the latest product in its line of Surface tablets. The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is the company’s latest attempt to fuse the practicality of a tablet with the ability of a PC. What do consumers think about owning a laptop/tablet hybrid? And how many people already own Microsoft Surface Products compared to other tablet devices?
Laptops vs. Tablets
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 42% of respondents said they currently own a laptop. 9% own a tablet. 28% said they own both a laptop and a tablet. And 22% said they don’t own either. So the majority of tablet owners also own laptops, meaning there could be some market for a hybrid type device.
Tablet Devices
But Microsoft isn’t yet one of the major players in the tablet marketplace. 46% of tablet owners said they currently own an Android tablet. 44% own an iPad. Just 5% of tablet owners said they have a Microsoft Surface device. And 13% said they own other tablets such as Apex and Hisense.
Windows Systems
The Surface Pro 3 runs Windows 8.1. There’s been some negativity surrounding Windows 8, but Windows in general has been a popular operating system for years. 74% of overall respondents said they currently have a computer or other device that runs on a Windows operating system. Another 12% said they have used Windows in the past. And just 14% have never used a Windows operating system. 61% of those who have used Windows said they have been very satisfied with it. 33% said they have been somewhat satisfied with Windows. 5% have been somewhat unsatisfied.
