Mobile Gaming Survey: Most Cell Phone Users Play Games

Every day, more and more cell phone users try out mobile gaming. Some games, like Words With Friends, allow users to interact with others on their phones. And others, like Angry Birds, have some users saying they’re addicted to mobile gaming. So how many users are addicted to games, and what types of games do they play regularly?

Gaming Capabilities

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 46.3% of respondents said they play games on their cell phone or mobile device. 45% said they do not, and another 8.8% said they don’t have a cell phone. Of those who have phones but don’t play games, 30% said their phone does not have gaming capabilities, but they wouldn’t play even if it did. 17.2% said that their phone doesn’t have gaming capabilities, but they might consider playing if it did. 42.8% said that their phone does have gaming capabilities, but they just have no desire to play. And 10% said their phone does have gaming capabilities, but they have just never thought about playing before.

Passing the Time

Of those who do play mobile games, 88.1% said they play games to pass the time, 66.5% said games are fun, 18.4% said they are very competitive, and 11.4% said they help them connect with friends when they are not together.85.4% of mobile game users said they play single player games, 27.6% play multi-player games, 61.1% play puzzle games, 50.3% play arcade games, 50.3% play card games, and only 5.4% play location-based games.

Addicted to Gaming

Only 8.1% of respondents admitted to being addicted to mobile games, while 28.6% said they aren’t addicted but they do play a lot, and the remaining 63.2% said they are not addicted at all.No matter the type of game, the popularity of mobile gaming is increasing daily.
