Today is known as Popcorn Lover’s Day, a day that celebrates that popular theater snack. But plenty of people also buy popcorn at grocery or specialty stores, or even at other events as well. And there are also plenty of different flavors and brands when it comes to popcorn. So how many people consider themselves to be popcorn fans? And what are their favorite varieties of the snack food?
Popcorn Fans
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 77% of respondents said that they at least somewhat enjoy eating popcorn. Just 5% don’t like it. And 18% said that they’re neutral about it. The most popular flavor among popcorn fans is classic butter; 75% named it as a favorite. 23% like cheese corn. 22% like caramel corn. 16% like to eat it plain. 8% enjoy ranch flavored popcorn. 5% like a mix of flavors. And 6% have other favorite flavors such as kettle corn or salted.
Buying Habits
In general, 7% of respondents said that they usually buy popcorn at the store at least once a week. 12% buy it a few times a month. 23% do so about once a month. 28% buy popcorn a few times per year. 20% rarely ever buy it. And 10% never do. But not everyone who enjoys popcorn has to buy it at the store regularly. In fact, 27% of respondents said that they always get popcorn as a snack when they go to the movies. 22% get it most of the time. 12% said they get it about half the time. 14% rarely get popcorn at the movies. 6% never do. And the remaining 19% said they don’t ever go to the movies.
Favorite Brands
For those who buy popcorn regularly, there are plenty of different brands to choose from. Respondents named Orville Redenbacher as their favorite popcorn brand. Other top choices include Jiffy Pop, Pop Secret, Smartfood, and Skinny brand.
