After leaving the shelves because of Hostess’s bankruptcy, Twinkies are finally going to be available for purchase again later this summer. How many Americans plan to take advantage of the snack’s comeback? And are there other Hostess foods that people have missed?
Twinkie Fans
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 60% of respondents said that they have eaten Twinkies many times. Another 29% said they have eaten them once or twice. And just 11% of respondents said they’ve never eaten a Twinkie.Looking forward, 15% of respondents said they definitely plan to buy Twinkies often once they make a comeback. Another 22% said they plan to buy them sometimes. 29% said they will probably buy Twinkies once they come back. 25% said they probably won’t. And 10% said they definitely won’t buy Twinkies again.
Hostess Foods
Aside from Twinkies, Hostess had many other snack foods that Americans had come to grow and love. These foods will also become available later this summer under a new company. 47% said they definitely plan to buy Hostess CupCakes. 40% said they will buy Ding Dongs. 37% plan to buy Ho Hos. 29% plan to buy Fruit Pies. 29% plan to buy Zingers. 27% plan to buy Mini Muffins. 21% plan to buy Donettes. And 4% plan to buy other foods such as Sno Balls. Just 19% said they don’t plan to buy any Hostess foods once they become available again.
Other Options
Even before the company folded, there were plenty of off-brand versions of certain Hostess snacks. Then even more people tried these foods once the Hostess versions were no longer available. Most of those who tried them, 36%, said they enjoyed the off-brand versions. 31% said they tried off-brand versions of Hostess foods and didn’t like them.
