Voice-activated AI home assistants like Amazon’s Echo and Google Home took off last year, according to a report from Technology Review. And those products are projected to get even more popular in the coming years, especially as voice recognition technology becomes more prominent in other products as well. So how many consumers are interested in purchasing these voice controlled assistants? We asked 1,000 respondents about their thoughts on these products and voice controls in general.

And another 10% were neutral or undecided.

And of those consumers, 47% said they’re interested in purchasing home assistants like Amazon Echo and Google Home.According to Personality Radar, those who own voice controlled home assistants are affluent consumers who will pay extra for products of convenience. And those who are likely to buy voice controlled products in the future are affluent, tech savvy consumers who value quality but also pay attention to growing trends.
Key Takeaways
Home assistants make up a fairly small portion of the market for voice controlled products at this point. But that very well could change in the next couple of years. To spur that growth even more, tech companies could potentially benefit from targeting consumers who already own other products with voice controlled features, as well as affluent, tech-savvy professionals. In addition, the consumers who use home assistants are more likely to use voice control features on a regular basis than those who own products in other categories, so it’s essential that the products work as intended, even when put in use constantly. You can view the complete survey results in the widget below and be sure to click “Open Full Report” to take advantage of all the chart and filter options.Photo Credit: November 7, 2016 by osseous under CC BY 2.0What do you want to know?
