YouTube Comments Survey: Google+ System Not Well Received

YouTube recently did away with its traditional commenting system, and many users are upset by the change. The Google owned video site now requires that commenters sign in under their Google+ profile, rather than their old YouTube account. How many users has this change affected? And how do they feel about the new system?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 8% of respondents said that they leave comments on YouTube videos often. 22% said they sometimes comment on YouTube videos. 25% rarely leave comments on YouTube. And 46% said they never do.

Comment Systems

59% of those who leave comments on YouTube videos said they prefer the old commenting systems where they could just sign in under their YouTube account. Just 7% said they prefer the new system that requires users to sign in under Google+. 22% said they have no preference between the two systems. And 13% said they haven’t noticed a change or haven’t left a comment yet under the new system.

Google+ Profiles

In general, just 11% of respondents said they have a Google+ profile that they use regularly. Another 44% have an account. Of those who do not already have a Google+ account, just 2% said they would definitely create one in order to leave comments on YouTube videos. 9% said they would probably create an account for this purpose. 30% said they probably would not.
