Amazon Survey: Most Have Positive Opinion of Company

Amazon.com has exceeded expectations this year in terms of its revenue and overall success, even though it has made some not-so-traditional business decisions. The online bookseller has expanded into tablets, an application marketplace, and much more. So what features of Amazon are helping to drive its success? And what do people think of Amazon as a company?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 82% of respondents said that they have purchased something from Amazon.com. 31% said they have bought something from the Amazon Marketplace. 11% own a Kindle. 8% have an Amazon Prime Subscription. 7% own a Kindle Fire. And 12% said they patronized Amazon in other ways.

Third Party Sellers

Many have argued that part of Amazon’s success comes from their use of third party content, from allowing new authors to self-publish to app creation to the Amazon Marketplace. 10% of respondents said they’ve sold something using the Amazon Marketplace. 2% said they’ve developed apps. And 1% said they have used Amazon to self-publish.

Brand Reputation

Overall, 44% of respondents said they have a very positive opinion of Amazon as a company. 37% said they have a positive opinion of Amazon. 17% were neutral or had no opinion. Just 2% had a negative opinion, and 1% had a very negative opinion.
