Earth Day Survey: Americans Becoming More Eco-Friendly

Earth Day is this weekend, and families around the country are preparing to celebrate by making their everyday habits a little more eco-friendly. Many Americans have been steadily improving their eco-friendly behaviors throughout the last several years. How many plan to celebrate Earth Day, and how many practice eco-friendly habits daily?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 16% of respondents said they consider themselves very eco-friendly. 62% said they consider themselves somewhat eco-friendly. 16% said they don’t really consider themselves to be eco-friendly. And 7% said they are not eco-friendly at all. And 59% of respondents said they have adopted more eco-friendly habits and behaviors throughout the last five years.

Good Habits

There are many different ways people can be environmentally conscious. 72% of respondents said they recycle. 68% said they’ve cut back on energy use. 32% use high-efficiency appliances. 31% use eco-friendly products. 30% drive cars with good gas mileage. And 3% drive hybrid or electric vehicles. Just 9% of respondents said they don’t have any eco-friendly habits.

Earth Day

While many respondents have good environmental habits, just 10% said they are going to celebrate Earth Day this year. 20% said they have celebrated Earth Day in the past. And 71% are not celebrating Earth Day at all.
