Facebook Use Survey: Majority Plan to Continue Using Facebook for Years

Tomorrow is the 12th anniversary of Facebook. The social media giant has become a huge part of people’s daily lives and how they communicate with people. So how many currently use Facebook on a regular basis? What are their opinions about the platform? And how many plan to continue using it for the foreseeable future?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 79% of respondents said they currently have a Facebook account. Just 7% said that they’ve had an account in the past, but don’t anymore. And 14% said they’ve never used Facebook.

Of those who currently have an account, 48% said they log in or check Facebook multiple times per day. And another 28% said they do so at least once a day. 26% said they interact with people on the platform multiple times per day. And 21% do so at least once per day. Just 4% of Facebook users said they never actually interact with people on the site.

Facebook Opinions

Overall, 66% of those with accounts said they enjoy using Facebook. 71% said that the platform allows them to communicate with more people than they would otherwise be able to. 52% even described Facebook as a big part of how they communicate with people overall. And it could get to be an even bigger part of people’s communication methods, if the trend continues, since 54% said that they use Facebook more often now than they did a couple of years ago.

Future Users

Looking forward, 62% of current users think it’s likely that they’ll still be using Facebook five years from now. Just 13% think they probably won’t use Facebook anymore in five years. And 25% were neutral or undecided about their future Facebook use.
