Google Glass Survey: Awareness of New Product Steadily Increasing

Google Glass is scheduled to become available in the coming months. The new technology consists of a computer mounted on a headgear that works with voice recognition technology and can take photos and videos and perform many of the same tasks as smartphones. How has awareness of the product grown in recent months? And how many are interested in purchasing Google Glass?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 23% of respondents said they know what Google Glass is. Another 22% said that they have heard of Google Glass. And 56% said they have never heard of Google Glass. In a February 2013 survey, just 9% new what Google Glass was, and another 8% had heard of it.

Glass Buyers

Once given a general description of the product, 12% of respondents said that they are definitely interested in purchasing Google Glass. Another 32% said they would probably be interested. 37% said they would probably not be interested. And 20% said they would definitely not be interested in purchasing Google Glass. Those who had already heard of Google Glass were 11% more likely to be interested in purchasing it.

Google Opinions

Of course many of the people who will purchase Glass will do so because of the actual device and its capabilities. But some could be interested in it simply because of Google’s reputation as an innovative brand. In general, 37% of respondents said they have a very positive opinion of Google as a company. 54% have a somewhat positive opinion of Google. 7% said they have a somewhat negative opinion of Google. And just 2% have a very negative opinion of Google as a company.
