Consumers are currently anticipating the release of the newest iPhone. The iPhone 5S includes a number of new features, including a fingerprint sensor for privacy purposes. But some people are worried that the fingerprint sensor may not be as effective as it seems. How many are interested in using such a feature?
In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, just 11% of respondents said they are definitely interested in buying the new iPhone 5S. Another 15% said they would probably be interested. 34% said they would probably not be interested. And 41% said they are definitely not interested.
In general, 28% of respondents said that they are very concerned with the privacy and security of their phone or mobile device. Another 35% said they are somewhat concerned with mobile privacy and security. 23% said they are not very concerned. And just 10% said they are not concerned at all. 4% said they don’t own a phone or mobile device.
22% of respondents said they would definitely be interested in a phone that uses a fingerprint sensor to protect it from thieves or hackers. 34% said they would probably be interested. 29% said they would probably not be interested in a fingerprint security feature. And 15% said they definitely wouldn’t be interested.
But there may be some downside to such a feature. 34% of respondents said that they would be very worried about giving a mobile device or a company such as Apple access to their fingerprints. Another 37% said they would be somewhat worried about giving a company access to their fingerprints. 25% said they wouldn’t really worry about it. And just 4% said they wouldn’t worry about it at all.
