Snapchat Ads Survey: New Program Could Lead to Fewer Users

Snapchat just released its very first advertising program. The disappearing message app has thus far gotten by without displaying any ads, but now the company is trying to increase its revenue. So what do Snapchat users think about this new program? Will Snapchat ads impact the app’s user base at all?

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 12% of respondents said that they currently use Snapchat. 9% said they have used it in the past. And 79% of respondents said they’ve never used Snapchat.

Of those who don’t currently use Snapchat, just 1% said they’re definitely interested in using it. 14% said they would probably be interested in using Snapchat at some point. 30% said they probably would not be interested. 22% said they are definitely not interested in using Snapchat. And 32% said they don’t even know what Snapchat is.

Of those who do currently use Snapchat, 50% said they’ve already noticed many advertisements appearing on the app. 31% of Snapchat users said they’ve noticed just one or two Snapchat ads so far. And 19% said they haven’t noticed any ads.

23% of users said they will likely stop using Snapchat altogether because of the new advertising program. 38% said they will probably use Snapchat less often because of its ads. 8% said they will probably use it more often. 8% said that ads will make no impact on how often they use Snapchat. And 23% said they are still undecided.

Social Media Ads

In general, 34% of respondents said they don’t like social media ads. Just 12% said they like social media ads. 32% said they don’t really notice social media ads. And 22% have no opinion.
