Facebook Home Survey: Most Smartphone Owners Check Facebook on the Go

Facebook has just announced a new feature for mobile devices called Facebook Home. People who use Facebook Home will have their phone’s home screen include a constant feed of friends’ status messages and updates. Are users interested in including Facebook on the home screen of their mobile devices? And how many already use Facebook mobile apps?

Facebook Users

In Ask Your Target Market’s latest survey, 82% of respondents said that they currently have a Facebook account. Just 4% said that they have had one in the past, but don’t anymore. And 14% of respondents said that they have never had a Facebook account.

11% of current Facebook users said that they check their Facebook at least once per hour throughout the day. 23% said that they usually check Facebook every few hours. 28% said that they check Facebook a few times per day. 16% said they check Facebook about once per day. 17% said that they check Facebook less than once per day. And 5% of those with Facebook accounts said that they never check Facebook.

Mobile Users

Overall, 59% of respondents said that they own a smartphone or other mobile device with internet access. Of those users, 37% said that they often check Facebook on their mobile devices. Another 28% said they sometimes check Facebook on their mobile devices. 18% said they rarely do. And 18% of smartphone users with Facebook accounts said that they never check Facebook on the go.

In general, just 18% of smartphone users said that they would definitely be interested in their mobile device’s home screen including updates from Facebook. 25% said they would probably be interested in a Facebook-integrated home screen. 39% said they would probably not be interested in Facebook Home. And 18% said they would definitely not be interested. Of the respondents who said they check Facebook multiple times per day, 23% said they would definitely be interested in Facebook Home, and 30% said they would probably be interested.
